Cora Rose’s life changed in a single moment after a devastating car accident. Both of her front legs were too badly injured to save, and veterinarians at Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital had to amputate them.

Zach Skow, founder of Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue, and his wife Heather stepped in to give her a second chance. What could have been the end of her story became the beginning of something remarkable.
The accident had left her body broken, but not her spirit. Soon after surgery, Cora began trying to move again, wagging her tail as if she already knew she would be fine.

Little by little, she learned to balance on her hind legs. Each day her muscles grew stronger, and so did her confidence.
Before long, Cora was standing upright like a tiny champion. She hops forward with determination, often compared to a kangaroo, never letting her limitations define her.

For longer adventures, she uses a wheelchair that lets her run freely. Whether she is hopping or rolling, she is always moving forward.
At home, Cora fits perfectly into the Skow family. She gets along beautifully with the other dogs and has formed a special bond with their young daughter.

In a sweet twist, Cora has even helped the toddler learn to walk, standing tall on her hind legs as an unexpected role model.
Today, Cora’s life is filled with play, love, and laughter. Her journey is a powerful reminder that resilience can turn even the hardest beginning into a joyful new chapter.
