A factory owner witnessed a group of teenagers bullying a small puppy and immediately intervened. The dog’s jaw was shattered, one eye was bulging, and he was left in unimaginable pain.

The man brought him to a nearby shelter, but for three days no treatment was given. When we received the call, we rushed there and found the shelter nearly deserted, the puppy lying helpless, starving, and suffering.
The shelter owner claimed there were no funds for medical care. Holding that fragile five-month-old boy in my arms, we hurried him to the nearest veterinary hospital.
His condition was devastating. His jawbone protruded above his gums, infection had already set in, and the doctors said it was a miracle he was still alive.

He underwent emergency surgery that same day. The three-hour operation saved his life, but his damaged eye could not be preserved and many teeth had to be removed.
There would be more procedures ahead. The second surgery lasted four hours, and he remained on high doses of pain medication as doctors carefully monitored for complications.
We later learned that one of the teenagers involved was his owner. The excuse was that the puppy was “disobedient,” an explanation that only deepened the heartbreak.

For weeks, Himchan could not open his mouth properly. If his jaw shifted, he would need yet another operation, so movement was strictly restricted as he healed.
The recovery was long and exhausting. Seventy-five days passed before his surgical wounds fully closed and his jaw gradually loosened enough for him to eat and move more comfortably.
There were nights we barely slept, afraid we might lose him. But slowly, the frightened puppy transformed into a trusting, affectionate companion who greeted everyone with gentle eyes.

After three months in the hospital, he was finally discharged. Seeing him run outside again, play with other dogs, and explore the world felt like watching him reclaim a stolen childhood.
The teenagers visited only once and showed no remorse. When one of them asked to take Himchan back, we refused without hesitation.
In the end, a loving family stepped forward to adopt him. Today, this once-abused puppy lives safely in a home where he is cherished and protected.

Himchan’s journey was filled with pain, surgery, and uncertainty. But it ended with something far stronger — a second chance, and a life built on love.
